Presentiment or precognition about Usman Sali.
BGen. Teodulfo Bautista with 34 officers and men were massacred at the Danag marketplace, Patikul, Jolo Island Sulu today. He was on a mission of peace as he was invited to a conference by Usman Sali presumably for a surrender. Originally set for the camp of the 18th IB [Infantry Battalion] at Patikul, Usman Sali asked that it be set at the market place. After BGen. Bautista stepped down from his jeep and shook hands with Usman Sali, a man of Usman Sali said “Narito na sila” and BGen. Bautista and the others were shot at close range from the back.
Now I will not be able to hold back the military from counter-action against the Muslim secessionists.
I had a presentiment about Usman Sali. In January of this year I warned the generals not to meet with the rebel leaders after I saw BGen. [Ernesto] Gidaya and BGen. Bautista still a colonel with Usman Sali in a road in Jolo on Jan. 20.
And I warned BGen. [Bienvenido?] Castro about Usman Sali as well as his bilas (they are married to sisters), BGen. Bautista.
