Slept at 2:00 AM last night and woke up at 7:00 AM. Blood examination by Dr. Mely Garcia.

Golf from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Wack Wack (1st 9 and Holes Nos. 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18).

Home for lunch at 12:30 PM. The children had classes this Saturday to make up for their 11-day long vacation.

Imelda was listening to the tape of Dovie Boehms [Beams] interview and was agitated by it.

Slept at 2:00 and woke up at 5:00 PM.

Met Gov. [Gregorio] Licaros on the SPCMA [Sugar Producers’ Cooperative Marketing Association, Inc.] purchase of ESFAC [Esso Standard Fertilizer and Agricultural Chemical Co., Inc.]. I called his attention to the fact that we are supposed to guaranty a loan of $29 million (P182 million) at 9% interest for a five year payment of P9.1 million every three months plus interest when the Esfac never made any money and it made only P2 (two) million profit for the first time for the whole year of 1969. So the government, if it guarantees it will ultimately take over the burden since it guarantees 98% of the liability and equity is only 2%. And there is no feasibility study.

Met Sen. [Jose] Roy and [Ambrosio] Padilla, the first bringing Justice Bautista who wanted to borrow from London for International Hotels, amortization is 12 years but the rates are payable every year and London always escalates terms as it did in DBP [Development Bank of the Philippines]—and the second bringing Broce Dev. & Rosales Veneer for the same purpose.

Official Gazette for November 14, 1970: President Marcos spent the morning entirely in his study, working on state papers, during which he proclaimed Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28, as public holidays in honor of the visit of Pope Paul VI here, and designated Ambassador Ernesto Lagdameo, Philippine envoy to the U.S. as chief negotiator in the talks on a civil aviation agreement between the U.S. and the Philippines,
In the afternoon, the President met behind closed doors with Solicitor-General Felix Antonio, Central Bank Gov. Gregorio Licaros’, Sugar Quota Administrator Jose Unson, Silay City Mayor Natalio Velez, Sen. Ambrosio Padilla, Reps. Pablo Roman of Bataan, and Roque Ablan Jr. of Ilocos Norte to discuss problems involving the offices represented by those at the meeting.
With no other visitors during the rest of the day, the President concentrated on this desk work.

Dinner after the movie Notorious Cleopatra, a cheap sexy movie, with Elvira Manahan, Dr. Constantino Manahan, George Sison and Imelda. Talk (lightly) mostly about Dovie Boehms.
