We are still gathering the election results. But Rizal is captured by the CSM [Christian Socialist Movement] and the Liberals. Manila has voted for independents.

But in most provinces the candidates of Nacionalista leaders have won.

Sympathizers of the administration will constitute the great majority of the delegates—perhaps 80%.

In Rizal, Manila and urban areas, apparently the Nacionalista leaders did not move at all. Or they were afraid to move because of the indirect threat of the youth who picketed meetings and on election day the precincts.

And the candidates were lackluster and looked like weaklings who did not have the courage to fight back.

But everybody believes that most of the candidates are independent.

The USVA Board of Directors are agitated by the statements and press releases of this blackmailer, Dovie Boehms [Beams]. They are willing to pay her what she wants but

Official Gazette for November 11, 1970: President Marcos spent a quiet day at work in his study, while occasionally scanning reports on the progress of the canvassing votes all over the country.
The President did not receive visitors, only public officials who call for consultations in the course of the day’s government business, an immediate aides in Malacañang.
In the afternoon, he endorsed the position taken by the committee of the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation (PAAF), the Philippine participation at the 1970 Bangkok Asia should be limited to that of a “performing delegation” of athletes who have been rigidly screened and qualified as having good chances to win. The President made the endorsement after he was notified by PAAF president Felipe Monserrat, who is also chairman of the criteria, committee, that his committee was certifying only those athletes who had passed rigid screening. He worked at his desk through the afternoon and early evening.
On the death of former President Charles de Gaulle of France, the President issued the following statement:
“The Filipino nation mourns with fraternal sorrow the death of General Charles de Gaulle, a great leader of men and a gift to the world of the twentieth century, who was not only a father to France but also a comrade to all those nations and peoples who needed a champion in their fight for freedom, independence, honor and dignity.
“In a world dominated, by mediocrity and endless compromise, he wakened men and nations anew to the truth that the most costly, the most ruinous policy is to small, to seek every favor from everybody and yet obtain nothing.
“As he restored to France her sense of grandeur and pride, he gave to other men a vision of greatness which only a high sense of freedom, independence, honor and courage might achieve.
“His passing is a profound loss to us all.”

I have refused to do anything with them. I intend to ignore her. This is a matter of principle.

But we must investigate if there is some other person behind the plot. Some quarters suggest the CIA [Central Intelligence Agency] or the American Embassy because it comes after the [Averill] Holman case, my demand that the U.S. return Sangley Pt., my stand on the non-negotiation of parity, my directing Sec. Alex [Alejandro] Melchor [Jr.] to visit India and Moscow as well as the new policy of trade with Socialist countries.

Again it may be my political opponents who are encouraging this or have planted her.

But Imelda has resolutely stood by me and this has increased my admiration for her. I am sure she has doubts as to whether I have been faithful to her but she can smell blackmail and is quietly helping out—no hysterics, no crying—just determined loyalty.

And she is not wrong. For I have been faithful to her. And I have not known this woman Dovie Boehms. I met her twice or thrice—all formal occasions. She was at the Famas [Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences] Awards, then she was with the cast of Maharlika which was introduced to me and then she visited the palace with some other tourists. That is all.

The Boehms woman had said in her press conference yesterday that Imelda knew about my alleged affair with her and not only approved of it but encouraged it because I am impotent (the unkindest cut of all) and that Imelda was her friend and was ready to go on TV and radio to confirm this!!

And Imelda has never met her. What a vicious diabolical woman!
