Hectic 10 days in Russia from May 30th to June 8th. Entrance through Khavarovsk, Siberia and exit through Tashkent, Uzbekistan with Novosibirsk, Moscow, Leningrad, Volvograd in between.

Arrived at 9:00 AM—“No changes in our social or economic system.” Nor does the trip to the Soviet Union in any way diminish our ties with other nations and allies.

10:30 AM—Cabinet meeting to report on the Russia trip and receive reports on the repair and rehabilitation.

The cabinets have worked well in my absence.

I have a nagging sense of insecurity about both the Soviet Union and China.

They probably will try and establish contacts and organizations for future subversion.

I cannot eliminate this thought from my mind notwithstanding assurances by the leaders of the two countries.

No Official Gazette entry for this day. Handwritten diary entries on Malacañang letterhead restart from this day. There is a long gap from May 8 to June 7 with no handwriiten entries and few stray entries available only in transcription.
