Things are turning out well. [Antonio] Tony Raquiza seems unopposed as Chairman of the Steering Council came tonight to tell me that it seems as if not only the delegates but also the people are in favor of an extension of my term. He says that yesterday when Delegate Ramon Gonzales sought to speak against me on the extension of my term, he was booed down unanimously by the convention.

And my plea to everybody to leave the delegate alone to make their decisions seems to be well received.

Speaker [Cornelio] Villareal came to see me this morning to tell me that ex-Pres. [Carlos] Garcia would win on the first balloting. He stayed only a few minutes.

We have prepared the papers and articles for Kingsbury Smith, Chief Editor of Hearst who is arriving on the 14th.

And I am finishing the materials for the book I am writing on the Democratic Revolution, the Foreign Policy article and the paper on the Fiscal and Monetary situation.

No Official Gazette entry for this day.
