Salen’s drilling manager Claude Whitehead (who has drilled a hundred producing wells and was the first to drill in the North Sea) and Salen’s geologist Marcello Reborn who has invested all his life savings on the Reed Bank drilling came to give me a sample of the oil condensate that came out with the gas in the first deep drill-stem test at Sampaguita I.
Reborn says it may the biggest gas deposit in Southeast Asia and there may be oil in two higher zones.
“It is possibly a big one,” he opines. I attach the report of the Energy Den Braid under Ronnie [Geronimo] Velasco.
We intend to visit the drill ship next Monday or Tuesday.
Ex. Prime Minister [Edward Gough] Whitlam has arrived and I must bring him to Leyte where he served in the Australian Air Force in the last war.
