London

London, (February 1889?)

Dearest Friend,

I have received your post card with your approval, as well as the monthly review for the Orient, but the letter you promised me has not yet arrived here. I am waiting eagerly for it because I want to know your opinion in order to improve the prospectus. Dr. Rost wishes to publish something about this in the newspapers.

Dr. Rost is an enthusiastic member of our Association. I have spoken to Dr. Yule about its objectives and he gave his approval to the plan of its foundation.

Now we have thought of something better: We need a German, because much has been written in Germany about the Philippines; and though you are a German, you are an Austrian, politically speaking. What would you say if we offered a seat on our board of directors to Dr. A. B. Meyer or to Jagor? As president we leave it to your decision. But it would be much better if both gentlemen cooperate with us as members of the board.

I want to translate into Spanish your article for publication in the newspapers. Give me your permission for it.

Please write me a letter.

Dr. Czepelack ought to be appointed honorary member, as we have planned. He could be more than that, but unfortunately he is not in a condition to travel.

Greetings to Frau Rosa and kisses to the children.

Yours,

Rizal
