We are behind schedule in our plans to liquidate the Old Society. We must concentrate more time and efforts on this objective.
Last night Imelda attended the dinner given by the members of the old Senate for Ex-Sen. Pres. [Gil] Puyat. It was an ego trip for the old gang of former political leaders. They unsealed prepared diatribes against me personally as well as the New Society and extolled their own achievements. This included Puyat himself who committed himself to fighting the administration “peacefully” but not by “confrontation.” This after I had sent Imelda to award the Presidential Medal for Service. And after I saved him when his bank had a serious run and he begged for help from me personally. I had called the governor of the Central Bonk to extend him and his bank all available credit.
I suppose these are the last convulsions of the Old Society.\
