My Brother,
Pardon me for having kept silent for a long time. The reply to the pamphlet entitled Desengaños as well as the fact that this is the last day of my vacation explain my apparent laziness. Besides this, here in Bohemia we have a terrible flood. The River Elbe rose 6.72 meters higher than normal. The environs of Leitmeritz look like a lake. Several valleys are under water and the destruction is immense. In Prague the magnificent Karlbruecke with statues, which has withstood bravely for 500 years the beatings of the river’s water, has collapsed in part. Almost every day I send del Pilar an Anti-Desengaños article.
