Prof. Ferdinand Blumentritt

My Brother,

I have read your letter with great interest and I have laughed a great deal at your many witty phrases. I believe that my next Antibarrantada articles will please you more than the first, which I wrote very hurriedly.

The truth is that Barrantes is very stupid and it is terrible that we have to fight with a bandit of that kind, but so it is written in our fate.

You know that Archimedes upon discovering the physical law that bears his name in gratitude offered a hecatomb to the gods. Since that time all oxen tremble when a new discovery or a new invention is made. In the same way the Peninsular oxen (above all those of the Barrantes kind) tremble at present, because they have discovered in Noli me tangere and in La Solidaridad that the Indios are not only their equal, but also that the best sons of that race are more noble, intelligent, educated, and learned than their academicians. They fear the knife of the sacrifice, above all Barrantes who is the biggest ox of the hecatomb.

Do not be shocked by the title Diwata. I have conferred it on him because he believes that Diwata is a devil of the worst kind. In concluding my articles, I will give him a lesson on the title Diwata, because my intention is to prove to the world the bottomless ignorance of the Most Excellent Sir. A literary carnage or slaughter.

Serrano is coming to Europe.

A thousand regards from us all.

An embrace from your

Blumentritt

P.S.

You are very impractical with regard to the sale of the Morga. I ordered a copy through F. A. Brockhaus and he asked the printer who replied that Dr. Rizal had left without leaving his address

Send some copies to F. A. Brockhause in Leipzig and to F. Muller in Amsterdam so that the book may be known and sold.
