Superb reply of Rizal to Barrantes – Every phrase is a sitzt on the face of Barrantes – Bluemntritt also working on his reply to Barrantes – A letter from Paciano to Blumentritt — Ask if Raymond from the Museum of Natural History of Brussels remembers him.

Prof. Ferdinand Blumentritt
My Brother,
First of all, my hearty congratulation on your magnificent and superb reply to Barrantes’ water-closet article! I have read your article several times and each time I like it better. I do not know if you know the German students’ jargon, sitzt. It is an exclamation that is used when the adversary in a student duel (Mensur) is wounded. It can be said of your article that every phrase in it is a sitzt on the face of Barrantes.
I will answer soon your brother’s pleasing letter. In the meantime greet him on my behalf.
At present I am working on a reply to Barrantes. It is possible that the first article may appear in La Soliaridad for today.
My eldest son Fitz fell sick today. May God forbid that it be diphtheria!
A thousand regards from all of us. An embrace from
Your brother,
Blumentritt
P.S.
I do not know anybody in Brussels, but in 1882, when I was in Dresden with Hofrath A. B. Meyer, an official of the Museum of Natural History of Brussels called in him. He was called Raymond or Du Bois Raymond and he gave me the impression of being a man of good heart. If you meet him, ask him if he remembers the professor introduced to him by Hofrath Meyer in 1882 at the Dresden Zoological Museum.
