Prof. Ferdinand Blumentritt

My Brother,

I have just received the issue for January of the review La España Moderna in which Barrantes very stupidly engaged in a silly attack against you and me. We say in German: Wenn dem Esel gut gent, so geht re aufs Eis tanzen.[1]

I shall answer the bullfighter in La Solidaridad. I am not writing you because of this but to ask you for advice.

Barrantes accuses me of being paid from the reptile fund of Bismarck to goad the Filipinos against the Spaniards. I should like to compel the editor of the review to publish a rectification in the magazine La España Moderna. Could you tell me what Spanish law and what article of it gives me the right to ask for this rectification from the editor of the review?

With affectionate greetings from all of us to you and yours,

Your brother,

Blumentritt
