Leitmertiz
Leitmertiz, 28 September 1889
Dearest Friend,
Your letter of the 22nd reached my hands only yesterday. I thank you in advance for the two sculptures. You make me again your debtor. The same for the unknown donor of the cigarette case. How can I give thanks for this one? The Filipinos have such a generous heart that one cannot compete with them. You must have received opportunely five copies of my lecture. Coello writes me today that he will order it printed. Azcárraga has written me a long letter about the defense of your Noli; he wishes to correspond with me. I did not know he is a Filipino by birth, but it seems that he is only a Filipino by birth.
What do you say about my Prologue? When should I write it?
Dr. Schmeltz of the Ethnographic Museum of Leyden is asking me almost every week for news about the International Association of the Philippines. What should I write him?
Dr. Jagor returned to Berlin on the same day that you received my letter, because he had important business there. Otherwise he would’ve called on you and Pardo.
With cordial regards from us to you and yours, I am
Faithfully yours,
Blumentritt
