MY DISTINGUISHED FRIEND,
I received the third number[1] of your most interesting publication which I have read. I thank you very much for your attention and for having accepted my opinion on Tawalisi. As I am now publishing something on the Philippines,[2] I should like to know if Dr. Hirth has already published the manuscript on Ma-Yi so I can speak about it and utilize it.
I have a friend[3] who has a porcelain collection and he would like to have all the numbers to your publication and subscribe to it. For this reason he requests me to ask you for the price of all the issues from number one on.
I shall write you about Chamisso later.
For the present I thank you very much [and] Mr. Kuhmcherl for his kindness in sending me the Humboldt. I will write him shortly.
Wishing to see you here in Paris, I am your sincere servant and friend.
