Dear Friend,
Thank you for your esteemed letters. I note that you are amused by the stupid attacks of your enemies. Many times we should consider it an honor to be insulted by certain persons. Politics in Spain is like that. Ignorance, envy, and insolence.
I have already written to Barcelona to send you more copies of the Defensa. I have only one copy, because I sent immediately the rest to Manila. A large number of copies are found in Barcelona.
I have already sent to the printing press my history of the Philippines by Morga.[1] I shall send you the first proofs so that you may read them and write the prologue. Please keep it private because I wish to keep it secret until it is finished. No one knows about this date; there are conjectures, but no accurate information. You have complete liberty to express your opinion on the work. I do not need publicity but indeed your opinion.
Perhaps two articles of mine may appear in La Solidaridad; One is a reply to La Patria[2] and the other is about my brother-in-law.[3] The continuation will follow.
Greet me for Dr. Czepelack. I am glad he is improving.
