My very dear Friend,
I received your kind post card and the translation with which you have honored my work. On Saturday I return it to you so that you will have it in your hands on the 9th instant. As I am very busy with the examinations, I cannot write you more than a few lines. I am surprised that I receive no news about the reply of our adversaries to my attacks. I do not believe that they are keeping silent and I suppose that my Filipino friends in Barcelona are withholding it from me for fear of slighting me, but this fear is wrong. I have entered the battlefield and thus I am sure that the enemy does not answer my bullets with flowers. I ask you to inform me of every attack directed against me. I shall not fail to answer. The Spaniards to whom I have addressed my last articles keep a disdainful silence. The poor ones! Only General Pando has answered me, but without discussing the question.
A thousand regards from my family.
I embrace you.

How is Mr. Trinidad held? A thousand thanks for your regards.
