Dear Friend,
My most cordial felicitations for your excellent article An Anniversary which pleased me very greatly. It is a very amusing article. In it you play with Quioquiap like a cat with a mouse. Luna and Pardo laughed a great deal and said that this article is better than the previous one, because one must not take Quioquiap seriously as he is an unworthy man. All believe that you have dealt him if not the last, at least the penultimate blow. I suppose Quioquiap must be furious.
T. H. Pardo de Tavera has just arrived. He says that life in the Philippines is becoming impossible. They wanted to search his home and confiscate his books, if he had not left immediately. He believes that if conditions do not improve, before the lapse of ten years, a great revolution will break out. Be careful with this opinion; I am imparting it to you as a good friend.
I have a new residence. I believe I shall stay here during the time of the Exposition. 10 Rue de Louvois.
All my compatriots congratulate you on your article. I like very much its serious and exhortatory ending.
Your faithful friend,
Rizal
