Imee arrived at 6:45 AM. I could not meet her as I was in bed trying to sleep off the librium I took last night when I could not sleep up to 2:00 AM.
Al Lim on the report of 6 NPA’s [New People’s Army] armed with Armalites sighted in Pantian at the boundary of Pagudpud and Claveria.
Before that I met Cong. [Roberto] Sabido and [Jose] Leido [Jr.] who were sent by Speaker [Cornelio] Villareal to find out what we wanted to do about the Recovery bill. I believe we should make the effectivity depend on the President and allow flexibility and change in the base rate of exchange and the multilateral rates etc.
Then met with Dir. [Jose] Viado on the survey of AFP [Armed Forces of the Philippines] reservations in Sta. Ana, Bicobian Bay, Casiguran and the Bukidnon-Davao boundary.
In the evening I met [Eduardo] Danding Cojuangco [Jr.] to ask him to bring in rice from Red China on a barter basis even to the extent of 100,000 tons or more.
Then a dinner conference with [Constantino] Uging Navarro, Mike Barbero and the SND [Secretary of National Defense] as well as the General Staff.
