Sen. [Salvador] Doy Laurel was ousted by the Senate Committee on Justice (8-5) which decided not to investigate the [Eduardo] Quintero case inasmuch as the Supreme Court has acquired jurisdiction of the bribery case and the issuance of the search warrant.
He has resigned his Chairmanship which resignation was tabled. Tomorrow the matter will be appealed to the floor. Because of the absence abroad of [Lorenzo] Sumulong, [Helena] Benitez and [Alejandro] Almendras, it may be a 10-10 tie vote with Senate President [Gil] Puyat deciding it to the chair.
