So the Kukui and the LCM [landing craft mechanized] fleet could be a versatile and self-contained sea-lift system for a wide variety of cargoes.

I attach the copies of the description of the vessels.

We should be able to hold an impressive turn over of these vessels.

The morning was dedicated to interviews by Bannawag and U.S. World and News Report (Bud) Marick.

And the afternoon to the study of the funding of projects specially the development of extractive mining.

Tonight Imelda attended the Oledan wedding. I do not attend weddings anymore.

There is a mounting pressure for the recognition of Bangla Desh [sic]. But I have insisted that the Asean [Association of Southeast Asian Nations] nations act as one on this question.

We spent the whole day on a cruise to Talaga Bay. Water-skiing. Wrote Bongbong. Rained on the way back. Read The Game of Nations[2] and re-read my own book.

Then dinner for the Council of Bishops. Delivered an appeal for the cooperation of the church and state.

Monday

Golf at 7:30 AM with Speaker Paik [Too Chin] of Korea with Ambassador Kim [Se Ryun]. Hit 39 since I was par up to 8 where I hit a double boogie 5 and in No. 9 where I hit a birdie from the outside.

Then met Mayor [Rodolfo] Ganzon who pleaded to be allowed to help me and the Nacionalista party. I have ordered a conference on the police and peace and order tomorrow with the Chiefs of Police, PC [Philippine Constabulary] and Nene Caram.

Enjoyed the interview this noon on Impact.

“You have been running around with the wrong crowd.” “You presume premises that are false.”

Then the prayers for Estela were held in the palace and a Japanese dinner.

Medina of the National Science Development Board as leader. The President also vested the members of the delegation with full power and authority to meet and confer with their counterparts from other governments represented in the meeting, and who are invested with like power and authority. Other representatives in the Philippine delegation are Dr. Juan Salcedo, Jr. of the National Research Council of the Philippines, Director General Apolinario Orosa of the Presidential Economic Staff, Mrs. Lefcicia Ramos Shahani of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Bienvenido Villavicencio of the National Economic Council, Jose Torres of the Philippine Atomic Energy Commission, and Dominador O. [3] Official Gazette for January 31, 1972: PRESIDENT MARCOS started this first working day of the week by busying himself early enough, attending to urgent state papers. He broke off only later to receive the directors of Renault International, Inc. In meeting the Renault group, the President reiterated the country’s basic policy to encourage the entry of foreign capital, especially on a joint venture, and said that “we are very happy that Renault is here in the Philippines and we are also very glad to see the interest of France in the investment field in the Philippines.” He took particular interest on the fact that Filipinos are in control of Renault (Philippines) Inc. The directors of Renault International visited the country to submit their proposals for the expansion of their automotive investments in the Philippines. The party who called on the President was headed by Pierre Revol, French ambassador to the Philippines, leader of the delegation. At a meeting with Director Gabriel Carreon of the Philippine General Hospital later in the afternoon, the President released a total of ₱2.8 million for the hospital. He authorized the fund release on being informed of the conditions in the hospital by the First Lady, Mrs. Imelda Romualdez-Marcos, who made an ocular inspection of actual conditions obtaining therein and inquired into the hospital problems. Checks covering the fund releases were handed to Director Carreon who was accompanied by Acting Secretary of Health Clemente Gatmaitan on the call at Malacañang.
