Dr. Ariston Bautista our nose and ear specialist says what I have is an adenopharyngo-conjunctival virus. My eyes are swollen and tearing, my nose is congested, I have muscle pains and general body weakness but no fever. He says he had it up to the weekend and it takes 4 to 5 days to cure but is not serious. He has given me an antihistamine twice a day (andantol forte) that is not supposed to have any side effects and Thilenol (two tablets every four hours). And he prescribes rest. So I have cancelled all my appointments tomorrow.
Imelda gave me a sponge bath this morning. Then I slept from nine to 12 which is the longest nap I have ever had. Am feeling better now.
Yesterday I took two tablets of decolgen three times (noon, afternoon and night) but I guess the side effects of general weakness and soreness of the muscles were worse than the illness.
I am now using alconefrin nose spray every three hours and steam inhalation.

Official Gazette for August 10, 1970: President Marcos devoted the major part of his working day to state papers and other state business requiring his study and action. For this reason, he had all but a blank schedule of callers, with-only one group of visitors seeing him, the members of the Philippine team participating in the First Asian Youth Basketball Championship games in Seoul, South Korea, headed by Ignacio “Ning” Ramos, coach. Accompanying the cage team were Manila Councilor Lito Puyat, who heads the Basketball Association of the Philippines, and Philip Monserrat, president of the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation
The President also took time out to induct Victor Nituda as associate Immigration Commissioner. The President worked at his desk through the afternoon, and a good part of the evening.
