The children are now in Hongkong. While I was out to confer with Sen. [Dominador] Aytona and Rep. [Jose] Alberto on the conference committee report on the budget they called up their mother. They have gone to Aberdeen to take dinner. Bongbong has bought a sweater, a jacket, a raincoat and an umbrella. He barely made it for the trip—recovering from pneumonitis.
They stay in Hongkong to meet their mother in Osaka on the 19th leaving Hongkong on Friday, June 12th, by 747 Jumbo jet which Bongbong would like to ride in.
Imelda leaves on the 19th but the beauties leave ahead of her. Imelda will do the honors in my place to open the Philippine pavilion at Expo ’70 on Philippine Day, June 22nd. She returns to Manila on the 27th.
Miss International, Miss Aurora Pijuan, arrived this afternoon. Could not play golf as I had to wait for her in Malacañan to formally welcome her to the country. Then I had to attend the postponed conference and look for Cong. Alberto and Sen. Aytona as apparently the senatorial leaders are planning to clip my powers of transfer, and the use of savings for rural improvement and to finance continuing appropriations.
