MY DEAR SIR,
My sister Lucia, who has just arrive at this island, has told me so many times of the kindness that you and especially your wife have bestowed on her that I believe it is my duty to write you to express to you our profound gratitude. I beg you, therefore, to convey to your wife our gratitude in my name as well as in that of my family. No one knows what that future may bring us: It is best to do good now so that it may be done also to us tomorrow.
